ES Radio - in Spain

ES Radio is a new generalist radio station in Spain. It offers a high listening quality and useful features. In addition, it provides a radio alarm with your chosen Spanish radio station. It also offers a sleep timer.

ES Radio is part of the Libertad Digital group. Its main studio is located in Prado del Rey, Pozuelo de Alarcon (Madrid). The other studios are in Madrid, Toledo, and Barcelona. Its management includes Luis Herrero, Dieter Brandau, and Federico Jimenez Losantos.

ES Radio is part of a network of radios aimed at non-commercial users. The first one was established in Salamanca on 19 January 1937. The second network was inaugurated in November 1965. These two stations were designed to use FM transmitters. They were also intended to provide full coverage of Europe at night. They also offered educational programming, musical themes, and cultural programming.

In the 1970s, esRadio expanded to include a music channel. It has 80 million listeners, making it the second largest radio station in Spain. In addition, it has won several awards, including the Antena de Oro for En casa de Herrero, which was produced by Luis Herrero.

The third network is a generalist channel named Radio Nacional de Espana. It also has a youth station, Radio 3.

RNE's external services were retransmitted in Spanish from the official radio stations of Italy, Germany, and the United States. These programmes were also used to carry propaganda. It was during this period that RNE was able to collaborate with the Axis powers in the Second World War.
