In some regions of India like Maharashtra as well Andhra Pradesh the festival of Ganesh is observed for a total of ten days. This is a festival that is open to the public. The sweets are served. The day before the celebration the clay gods and idols from Vinayaka are placed inside homes and outdoors in decorated tents for the general public to see and pay tribute. The clay statues representing Ganesh are also erected in colleges and schools.
