"Something we've received from our communities WoTLK Gold, and something we've heard from the people on our team who have tried to bring relatives or friends to join this game on their first attempt, there's something that's really daunting in 15-years of entertainment and the sense that you're just going to fall behind. And that it's overwhelming," Hazzikostas said.

WoW is known for its depth, however this also comes with a drawback with regard to new players. As of now, new players are stuck in content that's at times more than a decade older. With Exile's reach, new players will get to see the future of WoW is at the time of 2020 right off the start.

"The same thing that could make a difference to players who are already part of the World of Warcraft ecosystem is weak when trying to bring new people in," Hazzikostas said. "So we've tried to reduce the time it takes to make sure that we're placing our best position. When you play World of Warcraft for the first time, it's an experience that reflects what this game will have to provide in 2020, as opposed to playing content between 10 and 12 years old. So it's possible to advance to content that is eight years old, then six years old and finally 4 an age."

Hazzikostas acknowledged that Blizzard made too many concessions into trying to "rush" players through the first zones so they could advance to the final phases of WoW and join their friends. It's a disservice to the overall experience, and it's something that Blizzard has addressed with Exile's Reach. Hazzikostas stated that new players buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold will now be able to keep up with their top-level acquaintances over just a couple of hours, instead of just a few hundred minutes like previously.
